Originating from Beirut, Bachar Mar-Khalifé is much more than an enchanting pianist. A composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist, his music reflects that of a free man; an enlightened and impactful blend of jazz, electro, Lebanese traditional music, and contemporary music, which he approaches with a similar love and energy. He continuously shakes up genres to make labels waltz. Between traditional and classical percussion, piano, and orchestral direction, Bachar Mar-Khalifé incorporates all these facets to become their unique common denominator. His fifth album, "On/Off," was recorded in Lebanon in December 2019, amidst the popular protests that were shaking the country. In his own way, Bachar contributes to it; the emotion is palpable, the simplicity of his music echoes the situation in Lebanon, his homeland.
